Brass manufacturing for the heating and plumbing industry

Описание: For this process, we used a 3-spindle standard PORTACENTER with 4 pallet, 3 of which are in process, while the fourth pallet is used to load/unload the piece during the work cycle, operating in the background.
For this brass piece, that is a complex component in the heating and plumbing field, the mechanical processing must be performed on all 6 sides.
Adding a unique fixture body called 0-90, which is simply a positioner, it is possible to work all 5 sides of the piece.

As you can see from the video, the sixth and last side is manufactured on step 2.
On pallet 1 and 3, the piece is positioned as step 1; on pallet 2 and 4, the piece is placed as step 2.
In this way it is possible to balance and arrange all processes on the 3 modules.

Thanks to these features, which are standard for the PORTACENTER, we can reach a much higher geometric quality of the piece than using equipment with different positions.
In the end, using appropriate and specific tools, you can highly reduce cycle times and reach remarkable performance, maintaining high flexibility in production, which means a setup with very fast changeover times from one part to another, around 15 minutes.

This solution allows the customer to significantly reduce the stock, thanks to Lean concepts, such as SMED, which helps to generate production lots and produce just what you sell.
