Restoring a Blickensderfer No.6 Aluminum Typewriter Pressure Roller Replacement Repair Tutorial

Описание: The rubber pressure roller is one of the most common problems with these very old typewriters. The rubber often becomes rock hard with flat areas formed from being forced against the platen for more than 100 years.

The video shows a method that I came up with and I am sure that there are other methods that work fine. I am also fortunate enough to have a good assortment of tools and a nice old watchmakers bench to work from. The bench is a luxury and as a general rule, you do the best you can with what you've got. Just be careful not to damage any of the parts or injure yourself and as always, wear eye protection and take care when using any tools.

The rubber was purchased from Amazon and was true to the adversized Imperial size, 3/16" ID and 3/8" OD and ten feet in length.

The tool that was used to remove the toothed paper advancement wheel is a wire bending plier that is used in jewelry making and is typically under $20. I also use it to make new key springs for my Blickensderfers.
