One of several early recordings of Cole Porter’s new song hit from the stage musical “Gay Divorce” [sic], later renamed “The Gay Divorcee” for the film version. Unlike the typical dance band records of the time, this Whiteman treatment demonstrates the style of complex tempo-varying arrangement that ‘Pops’ tended to utilize for his 12-inch “Concert Orchestra” releases.
