A look at my two die saws . The manual (leg-powered) one is an old-style Bonny Doon Engineering Saw Guide , super-modified by me somewhere around 1995 (and later). The gearmotor-powered one is a unique saw built by Lee Marshall (the original Bonny Doon engineer) . Also super-modified by me , that never made it into production , for various reasons .
Both saws' designs center on the concept of a vertically reciprocating carriage that has a pair of spring-loaded arms that hold a jeweler's saw frame . The tilting tables are to set the correct angles for sawing pancake dies, which is absolutely essential to
making pancake dies the right way, so that they cut even thin sheet metal parts cleanly .
