The interview was conducted on May 16th 1986 by Charles Alexander at Tal's hotel, just off Russell Square in central London - 2 days before Tal's performance at The Bell pub, Codicote, Hertfordshire, UK. Tal was comfortable during his visit and would stay up late, sat on his bed, happily jamming along to the standards playing on BBC radio after midnight.
