Описание: বারাণসী থেকে 150 কিলোমিটার দূরে উত্তরপ্রদেশের শোনভদ্র জেলার সোনপাহারি পাহাড়ি অঞ্চলে পাওয়া গেল প্রায় তিন হাজার টন সোনা। এই সোনার মূল্য আনুমানিক 12 লাখ কোটি টাকা। 1980 সাল থেকে এই সোনার খনির সন্ধান করছিল প্রশাসন। পাঁচবারের প্রচেষ্টায় সাফল্য এসেছে। সন্ধান পাওয়া গেছে প্রায় 2943.26 কোন খনিজ সোনার। এছাড়া এর পার্শ্ববর্তী হার্দিক গ্রামে পাওয়া গেছে প্রায় 646.15 কিলো সোনা।

এই সোনা উত্তোলনের কাজ খুব তাড়াতাড়ি শুরু করবে প্রশাসন। ইতিমধ্যে এলাকাটি ঘিরে ফেলা হয়েছে সুরক্ষা কর্মীদের দ্বারা।

ভারতের অর্থনীতিতে বড়োসড়ো পরিবর্তন আনতে চলেছে এই সোনা। বর্তমানে ভারতে যে পরিমাণ সোনা কোষাগারে মজুদ আছে তার পাঁচ গুণ সোনা পাওয়া গেল এই খনিজ অঞ্চল থেকে। ফলে বিশ্বের সবথেকে ধনী দেশে পরিণত হতে চলেছে ভারত বর্ষ। এই তিন হাজার টন সোনা উত্তোলন করা সম্ভব হলে ভারত বিশ্বের মানচিত্রে ধনকুবের এ পরিণত হবে সে বিষয়ে কোনো সন্দেহ নেই।

সোনা ছাড়াও মিলিমিনিট এক কোটি টন। পোটাইট এক কোটি টন। প্রচুর লোহা, অ্যান্ড্রলুসাইট, গ্রাফাইট বিশ্বের মূল্যবান ধাতু ইউরেনিয়াম।
