Kamehameha grad Ah Yat leads Montana football into nationally televised game

Описание: Kamehameha graduate Keali‘i Ah Yat has the Montana Grizzlies unbeaten and climbing the national ladder.

The Kaneohe native has led Montana to a 7–0 start and a No. 4 national ranking in the FCS poll, throwing for more than 2,000 yards and 14 touchdowns as a sophomore starter. He is the son of former Grizzlies All-American quarterback and Hall of Famer Brian Ah Yat, but he is beginning to build a résumé of his own.

“It’s been a blessing just having the opportunity to play at this level,” Ah Yat said this week. “Credit to the guys I have on my team, the coaches helping me adjust. Every week it’s the same mentality, prepare to win on Saturdays.”

Ah Yat said the team prides itself on toughness and consistency.

“The toughest team that plays the hardest, the longest wins the game,” he said. “That’s what we’re known for, being tough, hard-nosed, always playing hard.”
