Here's another ride on an XN40, this time on the 5A. WMATA will end service on this route after November 15th, 2022, in light of the opening of the Silver Line extension to Loudon County. If you want to ride this route, there's less than a week remaining to get your rides in. I see why they want to get rid of this route, but I would've preferred that they keep the 5A in service especially during late nights because it could provide a transit alternative from the airport to DC when the Metrorail system is closed. A downside to this route is the fare which is $7.50 for one trip without transfer, so yeah it's pretty expensive. But the 5A is a really nice and fast route to ride, which ofc will depend on the time of day. It's sad to see this route go but life goes on. The extended Silver Line will directly serve every single stop along this route, for a lower fare than WMATA's current Airport Express Bus fare. This is the full ride from IAD to L'Enfant Plaza.
