At St Mary’s DSG our aim is to have little girls who we encourage to embrace the many exciting learning opportunities on offer. Much of the learning in Grade R is facilitated through play and educational games which promote critical thinking and problem solving.

Our Matric (Grade 12) class embrace the opportunity to mentor the girls each and every morning. Teaching all girls allows us to introduce early reading and number skills during our readiness sessions right from the start of the Grade R year. Our girls are fortunate in that we provide specialist teaching and being a whole school they have access to wonderful facilities like our creativity centre, heated swimming pool, sports hall and beautiful chapel.

The independent, cognitive, creative, fantasy and outdoor areas allow for a wide choice of stimulating activities during free play sessions. The girls of St Mary’s Grade R love to spend time in the library to choose a new book, listen to a story or read amongst themselves.

All our little girls enjoy the weekly chapel services where they join the older Junior Primary girls for a time of worship. Our specialist sports teachers are passionate at equipping our little girls with great swimming skills.

Computers are a firm favourite where the girls love learning something new. Through the use of a wide variety of equipment, gross motor and core skills are developed during their other sports lessons.

Although St Mary’s is a private girls school there is no one particular ‘feeder’ school, with applicants welcome from all schools in and around the community. Applications are usually submitted in May, but applications are taken throughout the year in all grades.
