St Bernadette's Primary celebrates National Tree Day

Описание: Tuesday 21 July, St Bernadette's Primary, Lalor Park celebrated National Tree Day by adding a new addition to their garden. The Catholic community of St Bernadette's reflected upon the importance of caring for God's creation and how the school has responded to Pope Francis' call for Christians to protect our planet.
Diocesan Administrator of the Catholic Diocese of Parramatta, Very Rev Peter Williams highlighted the urgency of Pope Francis’ call to action. ‘We are called upon as Christians to protect our ecology and understand the fragility of our planet,’ Fr Peter said.
Pope Francis himself refers to the role of schools in ecological education within Laudato Si’. Catholic Earthcare Australia highlighted one of the local school initiatives in the Diocese recently with St Patrick’s Primary, Blacktown, featuring in a video resource for schools. The video, ‘Connect, Care, Share: Our Common Home’, was launched on World Environment Day, Friday 5 June 2015.
In Laudato Si’, Pope Francis reflects that ‘good education plants seeds when we are young, and these continue to bear fruit throughout life’. Catholic Education Diocese of Parramatta looks forward to growing opportunities for learning and teaching in the spirit of Laudato Si’.
