In 2023 this car was isolated on a disconnected spur. That May the mainline was cut and swung over to connect to the track this car was on. The railroad then pulled the car onto live rail for the first time in about two decades. During that time it was not actually completely abandoned although the locals and urban explorers liked to call it that. It was being used as a storage shed filled up with old seats and track materials. While the progress may not be evident here volunteers committed hours to clearing out the car and filled a few dumpsters of material from it. Now it is time to move the car into another storage space up the line in Portsmouth, RI. There it'll sit awaiting repairs and will eventually be restored to operation there. This video shows the crew picking up the car and pulling it up towards Portsmouth where the car will sit for now.
