Protests erupted across India Sunday, as residents and regional political parties staged rallies and roadblocks in various cities amid a severe cooking gas shortage, made worse by America’s war with Iran.
India is facing its worst gas crisis in decades, with the government cutting supplies to industries.
Tehran has cut off tanker traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, choking off roughly 20 per cent of the global supply of oil and liquified natural gas.
India’s foreign ministry said Saturday it has asked for safe passage for 22 of its stranded vessels after Iran allowed several Indian ships to sail through the strait in a rare exception to its blockade.
