Arriva's FIRST New Volvo BZLs now on Route 41 (+ Gemini 2s & Gemini 3s) Coming Soon to the 243 & 341

Описание: Arriva London's first Volvo BZLs are now in use on route 41. These new electrics are replacing four types of buses, shown at 1:20. Around 70 BZLs have been ordered for routes 41, 243, 341 and N41. With 4 out of 72 BZLs currently in service. EZ10 (LJ75VZN) became the first Arriva BZL to enter service on the 29th of January 2026. With the 41 expected to fully convert to electrics over the coming weeks. BZLs will replace diesel Gemini 2s from 2011 and 2012, Gemini 3 hybrids from 2014 and 2017, And StreetDeck Electroliners that are being used at Tottenham garage temporarily. The Gemini 3 hybrids and Electroliners will be transferred to different garages. They will be used on routes 64, 66, 103, 150, 175, 194, 250, 289 and 370.

Route 41 runs between Tottenham Hale and Archway, in north London. The route runs every 5 to 10 minutes, from 04:30 until 01:50. The 41 is 5 miles (8km) long, with a full journey taking 30 to 50 minutes. Arriva operates the 41 from Tottenham (AR) garage, located near Seven Sisters. The 41 serves Tottenham Hale Bus Station, Tottenham Hale Retail Park, Seven Sisters Station, Philip Lane, West Green, Willow Walk, Turnpike Lane Station, Wood Green High Road, Wightman Road, Hornsey Station, Tottenham Lane Y M C A, Crouch End Broadway, Hornsey Lane, Hornsey Rise, Archway Road and Archway Station.

The London Undeground Victoria line at Tottenham Hale and Seven Sisters,
National Rail (Greater Anglia and Stansted Express) at Tottenham Hale,
The London Overground Weaver line at Seven Sisters,
The London Underground Piccadilly line at Turnpike Lane,
National Rail (Great Northern) at Hornsey,
And the London Underground Northern line at Archway.

The 41 started running in the mid 1910s, meaning it's now over 110 years old. The route originally ran between Muswell Hill and Crouch End. The first major change to the 41 happened three months after its creation, When the route was extended to Wood Green, replacing routes 21 and 21A. The 41 was then rerouted between Archway and Hornsey Rise.

In 1916, the 41 was cut between Turnpike Lane and Wood Green. The route was then extended north from Muswell Hill to Colney Hatch Lane.

In August 1919, the 41 was extended south from Turnpike Lane to Tottenham. However, the route was then cut back and rerouted to Tottenham Hale. Between September and October 1919, new route 41A was introduced. The 41A ran between Friern Barnet and Tottenham Hale before being withdrawn.

In November 1958, the 41's Saturday service to Ilford was cut back to Tottenham Hale. The daily service was then rerouted to serve Leyton and Stratford.

In October 1961, the 41 was extended to Victoria & Albert Docks from Stratford. However, the route was then cut back to Tottenham Hale in 1968.

The 41's next change occurred in 1978, when the route was rerouted around Tottenham. The route's Monday to Saturday service was then extended to Ferry Lane Estate in 1981.

In April 1984, the 41 was extended from Archway to Highgate, But was cut back to Archway one year later.

In February 1992, the 41 was cut between Tottenham Hale and Ferry Lane. With the route being replaced by the W4.

A night service was introduced in December 2000. With the new N41 running between Tottenham Hale and Archway.

Low floor ALX400s entered service on the 41 in September 2001. With these being replaced by Wright Eclipse Geminis in February 2006.

Gemini 2s first entered service on the 41 in February 2013.

In 2014, the 41 was rerouted around Tottenham via Broad Lane. Existing Gemini 3 hybrids then entered service in 2024. The most recent change to the 41 happened in 2025, when Electroliners started being used.
