Heart-Pounding UK to South Africa Motorcycle Adventure, Silverback Gorilla Encounter in The Congo!

Rode south along elephant road a day or two ago. Although we found droppings sadly no elephant. We carried on south and off grid deeper into the forest and plains and set up a wild camp. With everything set up we then started to hear the sound of a wildfire. Unbelievably it was another roaring fire in the valley below our camp but the breeze was in our direction. After 30 mins we had to break camp as the fire roared up towards us. We made it safely out and decided to head for a small town to find a cheap place to crash. Both soaked in sweat and dirt. Next day back on the road and Paul fixed a locals bike who we found broken down in the middle of nowhere. Rode across the equator and stopped at a monument for pic of the exact point. Back to it and then a long ride off grid again to a National Park. Took a river ride to see Silverback Gorilla and wild hippo in a protected area. Camped in the National park and then had an arduous ride back out into the Congo plains to a road. I dropped the bike twice the day before and paul twice today getting out. We did approx 450 kilometres today to get to a little oasis in the Congo. Humidity still harsh but we are coping and drinking what we can. Todays lunch was Pringles water and yogurt. We are having an amazing experience & people are still so friendly. If the vids load it shows why and makes up for the tough stuff.
