Major clashes in New Delhi marked the third day of protests against a controversial citizenship bill. At least 6 people have died and around 100 have been injured since the Indian parliament passed the Citizenship Amendment Act on December 11, 2019. Tear gas was deployed on Sunday at New Delhi’s prestigious Jamia Millia Islamia University as students barricaded themselves inside. The controversial act has been criticised for discriminating against Muslims and an affront to India's secular constitution.
