On February 17, 2026, I went to 6th Avenue in Tacoma, Washington to investigate multiple tips alleging that religious protesters were pressured to leave a public sidewalk outside a marijuana dispensary.
What followed was a textbook example of how quickly private discomfort turns into invented rules:
• “Leave the sidewalk.”
• “You don’t have permission to record.”
• “Turn the other way.”
• “We’re calling the police.”
All while I remained on a public sidewalk, recording from a lawful vantage point.
This video documents real-time confrontations between members of the public, employees, and bystanders—many of whom confidently cite laws that do not say what they think they say, or claim authority they do not have.
To be clear:
This video is not about marijuana.
This video is not about religion.
This video is not about agreeing or disagreeing with anyone’s beliefs.
This video is about whether people can be coerced out of public space—or threatened with police—because they exercise their liberty to protest, utilize their speech, and/or record those activities.
Unpopular speech is not illegal speech.
Public sidewalks are not private property.
Consent is not required where there is no reasonable expectation of privacy.
You will hear references to Washington’s privacy statute (RCW 9.73.030), repeated threats to involve law enforcement, and claims that filming from a sidewalk is prohibited. The interactions are shown in full so viewers can evaluate the facts for themselves.
As always, I encourage viewers to watch the entire video, verify claims independently, and decide based on the evidence—not feelings.
