Dermarolling is a procedure that uses small needles to puncture the skin. The purpose of this treatment is to generate new collagen and skin tissue for smoother, firmer, more toned skin. Microneedling/ Derma Rolling is mostly used on the face and may treat various scars, wrinkles, and large pores. It can also be used on the areas where you are facing hair loss to boost hair growth. Derma Rolling has numerous below-listed benefits and can significantly improve the skin quality by producing natural collagen and elastin as per the skin requirements:

Benefits of Derma Roller on Face:

4. How often to use Derma Roller: 0.5mm – You can use a 0.5mm Derma Roller once a week if your skin can tolerate weekly treatment. If not, then once a month
5. Do not use any new products (skincare or facewash or anything) on your skin after derma rolling for atleast 24-48 hours
6. Please do not share the roller with anyone else as it can transmit skin related diseases from one person to the other as the needles penetrate the skin
7. Do not undergo derma roller treatment (without consulting a skin specialist) if you have active acne, overly sensitive skin, or any type of skin disease
8. Do not apply any cosmetics immediately after derma rolling treatment as the needles penetrate the skin and the skin readily absorbs whatever it is fed, even the harmful chemicals which can cause damage to the skin.
9. Consult your doctor/ dermatologist in case you are using any regular medication

Microneedling at home is safe and effective and will not result in scarring on the face, in fact microneedling with dermaroller is a powerful treatment for fading acne scars. However, if you face active acne or any other specific skin concern or if you have overly sensitive skin or any other situation where you are not sure how often should you use a derma roller or IF you should use a derma roller at all, please consult a skin specialist.
