Bench- Bar- Media - Police Committee, BBMP, secret meetings discovered in Santa Clara. California revealed that judges, prosecutors , police , reporters and elected officials met on the public dime, out of the public eye. They discussed matters of public interest off record and kept no notes or records. Only certain lawyers, reporters and police officers were invited.
Judges did not disclose the conflicts to uninvited lawyers, reporters or cops. Media invited was largely from the San Jose Mercury. This allowed large media outlets to kill stories, or run information to influence juries and voters . These favored newsoutlets provided political endorsements for BBMP members.
