Описание: Thanks Andrew for contributing the Firebird Guitars, Drums, and Handclaps! This is our fourth collaboration on my channel, after The Third Man Theme, Yer Blues (Dirty Mac) and I Feel Free
Check out his band, which I play guitar in ‪@andrewweissandfriends‬

No Matter What was produced by The Beatles' roadie Mal Evans for Badfinger's 1970 album, No Dice. It was recorded at Abbey Road Studios, EMI on October 12th, 1970 and reached the top 10 on the US Billboard charts

Pete Ham's Gibson SG guitar kicks off the track. This was George Harrison's guitar that was used on Revolver and The White Album that he gave Pete in 1969. This main rhythm guitar was treated with ADT (Automatic Double Tracking) tape-flanging, to produce the short slapback delay

Joey Molland, their lead guitarist plays all the other guitars on the track, including the slide guitar solo. In a 2015 interview, he claimed he used a lap steel guitar that was lying around Abbey Road at the time for the iconic solo. This was most likely the Hofner Lap Steel that John Lennon used on the Beatles 1970 song For You Blue:
"I originally had a different guitar solo, one that kind of slurred the strings. But we were at Abbey Road mixing the song, and there was a lap steel. I got that out and started playing along with the backing track. Everybody said: ‘Why don’t we put that on there?’ That’s how it became a slide guitar solo.”

Joey also played a second rhythm guitar, and an overdubbed lead guitar. Both of these were played on his Gibson Firebird guitar, the latter being fed through a Leslie Speaker cabinet, producing the slow rotary effect

Tom Evans, their bass player used a Fender Precision Bass. Mike Gibbins played drums, and all four members recorded overdubbed handclaps- during the solo, and the final break

It's not clear which amplifiers Pete, Joey and Tom used. But they are seen using Hiwatt and Marshall amps at this time

For this cover, I'm using my 1970 Gibson SG Special for Pete's main rhythm guitar. It's going through a Strymon Deco pedal to create the ADT effect. I'm also using an Analogman King of Tone overdrive pedal, and my 1965 Fender Bassman amp

Andrew is using his 1976 Gibson Firebird for Joey’s guitar. For the rhythm guitar, he's going into a Fender '65 Princeton reissue amp, with a King of Tone pedal. For the leslie lead guitar, he's running into both '65 and '68 Princeton reissue amps IN STEREO. He's using his Strymon Lex pedal to recreate the Leslie effect

For Joey's slide solo, I'm using my 1959 Fender Champ Lap Steel guitar into a Strymon Deco, using my Vox AC30C2X amp. I'm using an Analogman Bad Bob Boost to get more treble and crunch out of the Top Boost channel on the AC30

For Tom Evans bass part, I'm using my 1978 Fender Precision Bass into my 1965 Fender Bassman

Lastly, Andrew is using his vintage Ludwig Drum kit, mic'd using the 3-mic Glyn Johns technique. See MY GEAR below for more info on his kit and cymbals
