*Months ago, The Undertaker handed Gunther his only true blemish—a decisive loss that Gunther has never accepted. Gunther called it an anomaly. A relic of the past catching him off guard. Undertaker called it proof that dominance has limits.
Gunther rebuilt himself the only way he knows how—through punishment. And to earn this rematch, he dismantled Cactus Jack in a match so violent it bordered on unwatchable. Chairs bent. Flesh torn. A powerbomb onto exposed wood that left Jack motionless. Gunther didn’t just win contendership—he made a statement that sentiment and chaos mean nothing against precision brutality.
Undertaker responded in kind.
The lights went out the following week. When they returned, Gunther was laid out in the center of the ring, throat marked from a chokeslam and the championship resting on his chest like a grave marker. No words. Just a reminder.
The violence escalated. Gunther trapped Undertaker’s arm in the steel steps and stomped it repeatedly. Undertaker retaliated by dragging Gunther through the crowd and delivering a Tombstone onto the announce table. Security failed. Officials failed. The locker room failed.
So management did the only thing left.
