Rob is a project specialist at Con Edison Emergency Preparedness, and explains, “We in the new Pomona facility. It our emergency response center we actually just fully opened. With the rain and wind that we’re expecting, and any jobs that come in, we want to be ready to restore customers as fast and as safely as possible.”
With extreme weather and storms, it’s all hand on deck. That’s why we prepare for cases like this with extra help.
“We’re going to bring in 100 contractors, and as soon as they get here, we’ll have our safety talk. We’ll team them up with their crew guides, they’ll go out to their vehicles, and check them all in. The system is stressed so we bring in additional resources. We’re transitioning from a serious underground event to an upgraded overhead event. And we just want to make sure we have enough employees to restore.”
With strong rains and storms, powerlines can be affected. Customers can report downed power lines, outages and check service restoration status atwww.conEd.com or by calling 1-800-75-CONED (1-800-752-6633). When reporting an outage, customers should have their Con Edison account number available, if possible, and report whether their neighbors also have lost power.
