Take a late night, colorful, hypnotic trip through Brooklyn with the trance-like grooves and music of drummer and percussionist Steve Holloway, and the fun, informative pop-up graphics of artist Tracey Berglund! Steve's original soundtrack utilizes acoustic and electronic beats, with congas, djembes, bodhran, drum kit and other percussion instruments. The music supports a program of video art and evocative scenes that offer an unusual look at Brooklyn after dark. Tracey Berglund, a Brooklyn native, re-creates the vibe of the VH1 show she helped create in 1996, "Pop Up Video" with graphics that provide an entertaining, running commentary of fun facts and Brooklyn history.
The music from the show is made available as a free mp3 download at www.steveholloway.com - the recording is high quality, and without the sound of the pop-ups.
This show was created to be aired on Brooklyn Public Network Television. It's original air date was September 18, 2014.
The piece is tuned to 528 Hz, and has a 528 hertz sine wave throughout. Some believe listening to this frequency is beneficial to one's health and DNA, others are skeptical of this. The composer cannot verify that either position is true, but has found this music to be simultaneously relaxing and invigorating, and suggests you download the mp3 and decide for yourself!
