Описание: You might think a tailsitter design is more vulnerable to wind, but the reality is that it’s probably the most controllable UAV design possible. Wingtra engineers proved this via many upgrades over years to key automation software affecting WingtraOne’s flight and stability in wind.

Specifically, two things have been upgraded: its attitude controller and position controller. While you can’t see this on the outside of the drone, the difference this has made is shockingly clear: the WingtraOne tailsitter VTOL mapping UAV might just be the most stable drone in wind.

IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS BEFORE FLYING

We recommend flying WingtraOne in continuous sustained winds no higher than 8 m/s (19 mph) measured on the ground.* The WingtraOne system can handle sustained winds** of up to 12 m/s (27 mph) in the air and will return to home in stronger winds. To understand how wind might impact drone behavior as well as your results, consider that:

— Flight time might be compromised
— Data quality can be reduced
— Strong winds and uneven ground can cause the WingtraOne to tip over; generally this is not a problem, but be aware that the nose cover might get scratched or in more severe conditions, propellers might break

As measured with the wind measurement tool from the pilot box—approximately 2 m (7 ft) above the ground (raise the tool above your head to measure; do not stand close to large objects like buildings or trees)

The Wingtra team flew the system in winds up to 16.5 m/s (37 mph) for testing purposes, not for aerial data collection. We do not recommend our customers doing the same.
