As we can see on the table I have tried to replicate the same OEM design for a Ford Grand Marquis, Colony Park, Station Wagon.
To do the wrapping I have used a 'steel blue' velvet fabric almost similar to the original material used for the car interior.
To give shape to the 'bulky curved channel' I have used a 4 mm thick latex Eva foam. I cut out all around two 6 mm wide grooves. These two narrow channels are in low relief. There is a 2 cm wide raised pleat between them. The task is to let the fabric into those two low relief crevices.
To slide the fabric into the grooves I have used wet yellow glue.
Two strips of hard cardboard keep the fabric deep in the lowest portion. These strips remain pressing the fabric for about 15 minutes.
The Eva foam plus the fabric were sewn down to a sheet of cardstock paper which at the end is stuck to the main door panel.
Two lines of stitches 6 mm long were done in the low relief channels. This is how the original design for this car goes.
