Lashing damaged natural lashes / Over processed lash lift / Curly / Unruly Weak Natural lashes

Before my client came in for her apt she gave me a heads up that she had gotten a lash lift about a month prior. I have worked on lash lifts before and never had any issues so I booked her in... It wasn’t until she came in that I noticed the lashes were so curly that they quite literally curled back into her eyelid and the tips of the lashes were very, very over processed.

Being the kind of person who likes a challenge, I dove into the set.. I was legitimately SWEATING. After placing about 10 lashes I quickly realized that no matter what I did, this set was not going to look the way she wanted it to. Even as an expert, I knew that I had limitations with this one... If I were to continue lashing the set would:

❌A. Take SO MANY HOURS TO COMPLETE
❌B. It wouldn’t look the way we wanted. It was going to look a little messy
❌C. I couldn't use the dimensions/diameters that we needed to bring her lash inspiration to life because her lashes were quite damaged

So, I called a quits on the set BUT I didn’t want her to leave without a lash set and without something to expedite her growth cycle so she can get her natural lashes back to good health and looks so here’s what I did:

1️⃣ I suggested a growth serum. This will help her natural lashes grow strong and healthy and will push her natural lashes to grow quicker, shedding any old growth with hopes the lash lift will grow out quicker
2️⃣I did a DIY lash set on her to give her the look she wanted (I took this opportunity to show her how she can apply them herself, at home as well) and suggested she grab a pack to take home with her in the meantime.

The client left with new lash knowledge and a beautiful lash set, despite it being different than she has initially hoped for. An unfortunate experience was transformed into something awesome. It is on us to improvise in these situations but we can’t do that without having the right supplies on hand. If I didn’t carry Lash Gains & Citizen DIY lashes, this client would have left super bummed but instead, she will likely talk highly of our salon and tell people about her experience.

This post is here to remind you that just because you commit to something in the beginning, does not mean you cannot pivot. It’s important to listen to your gut, If something isn’t working make the change, it’s worth it!
