LEGO Blacktron Cruiser Space System | Build and Review

Описание: One thing LEGO has on a constant basis, is Gift With Purchase sets. What that means is if you spend a certain amount of money on LEGO.com or at any LEGO store you get a specific set for free. And these sets cannot be purchased outside of that on their own. Except for on eBay or any resale site.

And the most recent Gift With Purchase set was The Blacktron Cruiser. Blacktron was released at LEGO in the late 80s and was one of the first sub-themes released inside the Space category. And it’s no longer produced by LEGO.

Blacktron is very recognizable with its solid black and yellow trimmed space crafts and the transparent yellow and red accents. With this Gift with purchase LEGO stuck with the same grid background box theme of the original series.

The Blacktron Cruiser is set number 40580 and comes in at 356 pieces and it looks strikingly similar to the Blacktron Invader that was released in 1987. But this Cruiser has some awesome updates for playability.

The Blacktron Cruiser is built in 3 main sections that snap together. The front section can be it's own space craft without the back 2 sections. It has foldable wings and a cockpit with room for the Blacktron minifigure that comes with the set and his metal detector.

The minifigure is clothed in the standard black spacesuit of the series. His classic smiley face of a LEGO minifig is hid behind a solid black visor.

The middle section can be removed entirely and can be left behind on a discovered plant as a research center. This comes complete with a space droid and containment pod to house all those possibly harmful materials found in the field.

The back section can be used with the front small spacecraft to extend it a little bit. It gives a cool look and adds those red wings to the back for more control while flying.

But if you want to fly the Cruiser as one large spacecraft just snap all the pieces together and you have a full sized aircraft ready to explore the universe!

What an amazing build for a Gift With Purchase set. Not only is The Blacktron Cruiser fun to build but it will strike up some nostalgia for some of the older builders since this is an 18+ set.
