THOUSANDS OF YELLOWJACKETS REMOVED FROM CAMPER TRAILER FRAME! INVASIVE WASP VENOM COLLECTION FOR VIT

Описание: Welcome to the Green Wasp Removal Youtube Channel! In this episode, we continue training and mentoring the Manchester University Wasp Team as we collect thousands of invasive German Yellowjackets (Vespula germanica) from a camper trailer frame!

The nest brood comb was located deep inside the trailer undercarriage in an inaccessible cavity, so we set up an attrition collection from the outside of the trailer frame where the wasps were entering.

We’ll show you how we work this attrition collection over several weeks to keep the population under control as the nest grows and produces a large population of yellowjackets that we collect for Venom Immunotherapy(VIT).

We’ll also show you how we identify the species of wasp we are collecting by observing the coloration and markings on their bodies, and how we flash freeze the live yellowjacket specimens in dry ice to preserve their venom at the highest quality for VIT!

Most of the wasps we collect are utilized for Venom Immunotherapy (VIT). VIT is a life-saving medical treatment in which patients with severe venom allergies receive a series of injections (containing wasp venom products) which ultimately desensitizes them as they gain immunity to wasp venom. The goal of the VIT process is to prevent venom-related medical emergencies before they can occur. The treatment normally results in life long immunity to wasp venom (or bee, ant, etc.) and has up to a 98% effectiveness rate! VIT offers an amazing improvement in the quality of life for allergy patients, and we highly recommend it to people who may need this treatment.
