SCRIPTURE TEXT: 2 Peter 3:1-18

We come to the conclusion of our sermon series on Pure Truth: The Letters of Peter with the closing chapter of the Apostle's second & final epistle. Here in Second Peter chapter three, we find a rousing charge to always BE ON THE LOOKOUT for the return of the Lord Jesus Christ. Though it may seem to us as if this coming is already too long awaited to actually still expect His return, Peter urges us to realize that "The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise.... Instead He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance" (2 Peter 3:9). The pure truth Peter has shared with us by the Spirit in his two letters truly train us HOW TO BE READY FOR THE DAY OF THE LORD and to remain expectantly proclaiming this truth until His return!
