Hey welcome ladies and gentlemen, my name
is Allen with the contractor license
school.
And this is a video on how to get a c28
lock and security equipment license in
the state of California in seven easy
steps.
The first thing you need to know is you
need the right amount of experience.
That experience looks like
basically four years of working in that
particular trade.
Now some of the things you're going to
need to know about is installation,
repair, and maintenance of doors, and
hardware, installation repair, and maintenance of
electronic locking
systems.
Things like wiring, locking, and
operating hardware, software control,
surveillance, stuff like that.
Installation repair, and maintenance of
mechanical locking systems,
lock cylinders key generation lock
bypass stuff like that.
And finally installation repair and
maintenance of things like safes
and vaults and other security containers.
That's a part of the experience.
Now number two, you're going to need to
be prepared to pass the state and the state exam both
the law and the trade.
Well, that's what we do.
We're the contractor license school.
We have brick and mortar schools spread out
throughout Southern California that you
can jump into
and our online program that you can jump
into if you want the ease of just doing
the program
at your house.
Now, do keep in mind that
when you are a part of our
in-school program, you also have full
access to our online program.
Number three, you have to be able to fill
out that application that can be
challenging
and quite daunting that's the feedback
we've gotten from a variety of
contractors.
But we want you to know that's not going
to be difficult for you because we're
going to walk you through that process step by step to make
sure that you don't even have to think
or worry about that so much.
What you need to focus on is getting
through our materials
and taking our tests online 24 7
anywhere you have internet iPad, cell
phone, computer.
The fourth thing is you have to pass the
state exam each one
along with the trade.
You're gonna have
three and a half hours for each
test so you're gonna be there about
eight hours with a basic hour break for
lunch.
Keep that in mind,
Number five, you gotta
get a surety bond.
That's done with any insurance company.
And, oh hey, by the way, we are
an insurance company.
That's gonna be a fifteen thousand dollar surety bond it's
gonna cost you
about one hundred dollars for
the year.
Number six, you gotta get a live scan.
Now once you pass the state exams at the
state testing facility you're going to get a
pamphlet that shows you in your local
area where you can go get those live scans.
But just so you know, you can get it at
any sheriff's office and or ups store.
And one of the great
things about that is,
once you get your live scan you don't
have to send anything, mail anything,
fax anything, they're going to send that
straight to the contractor state
licensing board.
So you don't have to think about it.
Number seven is, really I think the key
and the most important part of this
entire
list of seven easy steps, because how
many of you know there are a lot of
people that dream of doing something or
want to someday in the future
but never really take that first step.
And hey I do want you to know this is
the first step to success is
that first step.
