In the second episode of my archetypology series, I discuss the trickster archetype through the lens of Heath Ledger's portrayal of the classic batman villain in the Dark Knight. The Trickster represents our internal desire to free ourselves from the constraints of societal living. This appears through the manifestation of chaos and the destruction of the sacred. Trickery and jokes takes things which are serious and makes them profane.
