Meloni Backs Medium-Sized EU Power To Represent Bloc In Ukraine Talks | VERTEX

Описание: Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni renewed her call for the European Union to appoint a single representative to speak on behalf of the bloc in efforts related to the Ukraine conflict.

"There are many formats but none of those formats has the authority, the authority to speak on behalf of Europe as a whole and therefore I believe that this issue needs to be resolved," Meloni said at the G7 Leaders' Summit session on Wednesday.

She added that an eventual candidate should come from one of the European Union's medium-sized member states.

"I believe that proposing one of these people would make reaching an agreement more difficult from my perspective, and therefore I would turn toward the medium-sized powers of the European Union," Meloni noted.
