The increase in cases of kidney failure is driving the establishment of dialysis centres in townships and villages across the country. The Clinical Kidney Journal reports that the prevalence of chronic kidney disease in Africa is growing at doubled digits. Hypertension, diabetes and HIV are all fueling the demand for dialysis treatment, to avoid kidney failure. And the South African Nephrology Society is worried about the state of some of the centres.
