🇺🇸 What happens when a political movement proposes abolishing the Senate and Electoral College, replacing the presidency and Supreme Court, and restructuring some of America’s most important institutions?
Those proposals are no longer merely internet rumors. They appear in the Democratic Socialists of America’s 2026 national program.
In this Saving America report, I examine what the organization is openly advocating and why every American should understand the potential consequences.
The DSA program calls for:
🏛️ Abolishing the United States Senate
🗳️ Abolishing the Electoral College
⚖️ Replacing the President and Supreme Court with an executive and judiciary selected by and subordinate to Congress
🚨 Abolishing ICE and ending immigration detention and deportations
🏢 Expanding public ownership of major corporations and essential industries
People are free to support or oppose those proposals. But Americans should know exactly what is being promoted before deciding whether these ideas represent reform or an attack on the constitutional structure that has governed this country for generations.
I also examine what happened in Cambridge, Massachusetts, after the City Council voted to end the use of ShotSpotter gunfire-detection technology.
On July 4, Cambridge public employee Xavier Bautista was fatally shot. His body was discovered approximately an hour later by a passerby.
Police representatives and community members questioned whether ShotSpotter might have produced a faster emergency response. Critics of the technology have raised concerns about accuracy, privacy, false alerts, and its effect on heavily policed neighborhoods.
The responsible question is not whether technology is perfect. No public-safety system is perfect.
The question is whether elected officials carefully considered the potential consequences before removing a tool designed to alert police when gunfire is not otherwise reported.
The episode also addresses political and religious tensions in Frisco, Texas, and the danger of allowing fear, misinformation, or extremism from any side to divide communities.
My conclusion is simple:
Stay informed. Participate in local government. Vote in primary and general elections. Ask what candidates actually support before giving them power.
Our institutions survive only when citizens defend them.
Has the political movement for structural change gone too far, or does America need a completely different system?
Tell me what you think.
