Pangong Lake (Pangong Tso) is a stunning, high-altitude saltwater lake located in the Himalayas, straddling the border between India and China in the Ladakh region. Known for its breathtaking natural beauty and ability to change colors (appearing blue, green, and red at different times), it is a major tourist attraction.
The lake is an endorheic basin situated at an elevation of approximately 4,350 meters (14,270 feet) above sea level. It is about 134 km long, with one-third lying in India and two-thirds in China.
The ideal time to visit for mild weather and clear roads is between May and September. During winter (December to March), the lake freezes completely, offering a unique but more challenging experience.
