Farmers are baling dry hay, the process of packaging sun-dried grass or legumes into compact units for storage and animal feed. The key machine is a baler, typically pulled by a tractor. As the tractor moves, the baler gathers the dried forage, compresses it into dense blocks or rolls, and ties them with twine or netting.
For small, rectangular bales, the machine ejects them onto the field for later manual stacking. For large round or square bales, they are dropped directly onto the ground. This mechanized process greatly increases efficiency, reduces labor, and creates uniform, weather-resistant bales that are easy to stack, transport, and store, providing essential winter feed for livestock.
