On Friday, February 20, 2026, community leaders, advocates, and residents from across Colorado gathered at the Colorado State Capitol for a community-led press conference examining the impact of federal immigration enforcement on families, small businesses, and neighborhood safety.
The press conference brought together advocates, nonprofit partners, faith leaders, creatives, small business owners, and leaders representing AANHPI, Latino, Black, Indigenous, and LGBTQ+ communities. The event centered lived experiences while outlining practical, community-driven approaches grounded in care, accountability, and public safety.
Speakers will provide firsthand perspectives on how immigration enforcement policies affect daily life for Colorado families and communities and will emphasize the importance of cross-community collaboration and highlight hyper-local strategies that empower neighbors to support and protect one another. The event also spotlighted grassroots mutual aid initiatives and rapid response networks that provide trusted information, accompaniment, and timely resources to help families remain informed, prepared, and connected.
This press conference takes place during the first week of Lunar New Year, a season honoring family, renewal, and hope. The timing underscores a shared principle: every family deserves the opportunity to celebrate, gather, and plan for the future without fear. When one community experiences instability or harm, the effects extend across our broader civic and economic fabric.
Community members, allies, and partners are encouraged to attend. Whether by sharing accurate information, supporting mutual aid efforts, engaging with rapid response networks, or standing in visible solidarity, collective action strengthens community resilience and affirms a shared commitment to dignity, safety, and opportunity for all.
