This shows how firefighters do a door breach using only a set of irons: a fire-rated axe and halligan. The breaching exercise is done on an outward swinging door using the training simulator used by both Norfolk and Virginia Beach Fire Departments.
This is a part of a series of videos on Training How to Breach Doors, Windows, and Cars. To view the whole playlist, check it here: http://bit.ly/BreachTraining

Battalion Chief William Reynolds held a challenge to TRFA 156 for the fastest time possible to breach an outward swinging door. Six squads from the Virginia Beach Fire Academy took the challenge after being taught to use only a Halligan and a blunt head axe.
Each of the recruits took all their strength and quickness to make the fastest time and become a legend in the Tidewater Regional Fire Academy Class of 156 roster. This, however fun it may be, is a required skill for a Firefighter I and II of the Virginia Beach Fire Department. This is also one of the first skills learned by the recruit firefighters outside of the classroom.
