Описание: Sanitation has taken a backseat in India's current economic discourse, majorly negating the benefits derived from economic growth and healthcare development. This talk explores the need to reassess the importance of sanitation and draw out policy structures from the same in India. This is done through exploring the economic and welfare costs of sanitation (or lack thereof) in context of Indian society. Amit Thorat is an Assistant Professor at the Centre for Study of Regional Development at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. His research work lies in the fields of income, education and healthcare delivery inequalities across social, ethnic and religious groups in particular, in the context of India.
