Описание: Deeper and deeper into Slaughterhouse combe accompanied by fast moving streams that I had to cross.The combes here on the Quantock Hills can sometimes look very similar and if you don't visit them often reference points can be come blurred and confusing.At times I question whether I am in fact following Slaughterhouse combe because it does share many similar features to Somerton Combe but eventually all becomes clear and the wander progresses deeper and deeper.Not a soul in sight. But optical illusions can happen here where fallen trees, branches and dark shapes can look like people , birds etc...A type of eeriness at times in this very remote combe but I know the trees remember me---guardians of the wood, protectors here and I do feel safe but always alert---Some say there have been sightings of a black panther here in the combs and this could be possible because in the 18th century the richer people who lived in manors here on the hills kept big cats.Some believe these large cats like Black Panthers escaped and have survived on the hills making their dens in the protective areas of combs. To walk here in the dark would be scary but exciting and dangerous because of the streams and obstacles...and may be the unknown that wander these combs at night.As kids some friends of mine about 12 in age did try to camp out here but after just a few hours were scared to death and went home...yes take care and beware folks because these hills are sacred......many of the spirits of the Ancients reside here....
