In this Designer Showcase tutorial we will be sewing the Harlequin Pouch, a free pattern from Woodland Stitches (formerly Crafted By Leanne).
Skills I will cover in this tutorial include:
Joining pattern pieces with an exact seam allowance
Top stitching
Lining up seam lines
Interior zipper pocket with under stitching (cut lining pieces 6.5x3.25” and 6.5x4”)
Applying the “Better Boxed Bottoms” principles
Sewing a no-raw edge wristlet strap
Riveted D-Ring connector
Zipper installation technique that gives squared corners with a topstitched lining
Hybrid birthing method
I am sewing on a domestic Juki HZL-DX7. My bag is made using mora faux leather from Emmaline Bags and interfaced Rifle Paper Company quilting cotton, stabilized with Thermolam fusible fleece. I used interfaced cotton canvas from Geek Garden Fabric for the interior.
