The bell-wearers of Ituren -- Iturengo Joaldunak -- carry on a very old Basque tradition that was perhaps first created to scare away evil spirits. Here they present the tradition at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival, June 30, 2016. They march while wearing a sheep skin and a large cow bell that sounds very loud, especially when there's a group of people marching with them.
