It was amazing. I was so happy that I cried. When I first
heard about the Hearing Expo at the Jacksonville Hearing and
Balance Institute, it was a letter I got in the mail. Most mail I
get is junk mail, so I was like, Well, this is interesting. Let me
open up and see it.

I saw that there was a Hearing Expo and there was going to
be a chance to win a free pair of hearing aids and a bunch of other
goodies plus pretty pens and stuff like that. But I really wanted
to go for the raffle for the free hearing aids, because I had no
insurance, and this was my one shot in the dark.

It felt like a sign when I saw this lighter. I decided to
go. I was all excited. I usually want to sleep in, [laughs] but I
decided to go. It was a nice time. I just took a chance and entered
the raffle. I had to [inaudible 00:55] other people who also wanted
to win. I just figured I had to try.

I got the call from Dr. Olson that I had won, and I couldn't
believe my eyes. I was sobbing uncontrollably. I was so happy. It's
really amazing, and I'm really excited to be getting my hearing
aids, because the ones I have now are falling apart. They're five
years old. This is definitely a blessing, and I feel very lucky.
