How did the NBA Eastern Conference get this bad? Like the previous years, the West is projected to beat the East again, making it twenty four wins out of the last twenty seven years. And even before the first month of the season finished, you could feel the imbalance in real time.

The West is still a bloodbath featuring OKC, Denver, Golden State, Spurs and more. So while the West is building contenders, the East is begging for stability.

So what happened? How did an entire conference go from the proud house of Jordan, the Bad Boys, the Big Three Celtics, and the Heatles… to whatever this chaos is now?

And just when the East finally showed signs of balance around 2022, injuries and superstar movements, reset the gap all over again. So much so the western executives are pushing for the NBA to scrap conferences.

"And so what some of the western executives are saying is, let’s just get rid of the conferences and seed 1 through 16. Best 16 teams make the playoffs have a balanced schedule, forget about this, forget the imbalance which frankly has existed for decades , the west has dominated the east for decades."

Yet something interesting is happening beneath the surface. The East might not be as competitive as the west but teams like the Cavs, Pacers, even the Pistons are coming up strong.
