Japanese director Yukihiro Morigaki presents his new drama “The Imaginary Dog and the Lying Cat” at PÖFF. The film spans 25 years in the life of one family — from the imaginative world of an eight-year-old boy to adulthood, where long-buried secrets, lies and grief must finally be confronted.
Yukihiro Morigaki (1983) began his career making documentaries, later gaining recognition as an award-winning director of television commercials. His feature debut “Goodbye, Grandpa!” won the NETPAC Jury Award at PÖFF in 2017. “The Imaginary Dog and the Lying Cat” is his fourth feature film.
The film has its world premiere this year at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, in the Official Selection competition programme.

Jaapani režissöör Yukihiro Morigaki esitleb PÖFFil oma uut draamat „Kujuteldav koer ja valelik kass“, mis jälgib ühe perekonna elu 25 aasta jooksul: alates 8-aastase poisi fantaasiamaailmast kuni täiskasvanueani, mil tuleb silmitsi seista mineviku valede, saladuste ja leinaga.
Yukihiro Morigaki (1983) alustas oma karjääri tehes dokumentaalfilme ning on pälvinud tunnustust ka telereklaamide režissöörina. Tema täispikk debüütfilm “Goodbye, Grandpa!” võitis 2017. aastal PÖFFil NETPACi žürii auhinna. „Kujuteldav koer ja valelik kass“ on Yukihiro Morigaki neljas täispikk mängufilm.
Filmi maailmaesilinastus toimub selle aasta Tallinna Pimedate Ööde Filmifestivali Official Selection võistlusprogrammis.
