Описание: As part of the Fall 2025 Advance RI-CTR Implementation Science Seminar series, Sophia Bartels, MSPH, PhD, spoke on “Optimizing the Development and Tracking of Implementation and Sustainment Strategies: Lessons Learned from Two Large-scale Implementation Science Studies” on December 2nd, 2025.

This presentation provides an overview of methods for developing and tracking implementation and sustainment strategies, including implementation mapping, implementation strategy specification, the FRAME-IS, and stakeholder strategy prioritization. It then describes and shares results from how these methods were applied in the case of two large-scale implementation science studies in Vietnam. Finally, it shares lessons learned and considerations for applying these methods across both domestic and global contexts.

Sophia Bartels is a postdoctoral fellow at the Center for Health Optimization and Implementation Research (CHOIR) at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Dr. Bartels has over 8 years of experience evaluating the implementation of evidence-based mental health, substance use disorder, and HIV interventions and testing strategies to scale them up in healthcare settings both domestically and internationally. Her work includes using mixed methods to assess sustainment of evidence-based interventions and to test the effectiveness of novel implementation strategies, with a focus on improving outcomes for individuals experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
