In the 6th edition of Racing Stories, I will be talking about an old school NASCAR driver from the 1960s named LeeRoy Yarbrough. A blue collared driver who was a successful driver who was known to drive the #98 Ford Torino for Junior Johnson. He won 7 races in 1969 and became the first driver to win the Triple Crown Races in NASCAR. However in his personal life, he had a hard test crash back in 1970 which got him a concussion, and affected him mentally. He attempted to murder his mother by strangling her and had an altercation with law enforcement. Unfortunately on December 7, 1984, LeeRoy passed away at the age of 46 due to internal bleeding from a violent seizure. On the IndyCar side, He ran 3 Indianapolis 500 races from 1967, 1969, and 1970. He also ran at Trenton and Ontario in 1970.
A slight video mistake: when I showed a clip from a 1969 Race at Atlanta, yes he did win the Dixie 500, but I could not find footage of that race, so I used the other Atlanta race from 1969. So that is why I mentioned "Atlanta Journal 500, not Dixie 500" as in the footage. Just to let you guys know so you guys do not get confused.
I know it has been a while since I have done an episode of Racing Stories. I have been busy with College, I have been doing other videos, I am happy I finally published an episode of Racing Stories! I hope you guys enjoy this episode and the series. Give it a like, comment, and don't forget to subscribe for more content and more episodes of Racing Stories!
