Today’s lunchboxes were filled with meatballs, spaghetti with my homemade Alfredo sauce, veggies, croissants… and of course a few treats.

And then there’s always that one kid who likes to be different — that’s Eva 😅

The boys got meatballs, and Eva had leftover chicken chunks from the night before. Same spaghetti, same veggies, same love — just her own twist.

Eva also gets a few extra snacks because she has recess, while the boys are older and only have lunch. I tend to overpack just a little, but honestly, 9 times out of 10 everything comes home eaten. And that 1% of the time when a treat comes back? It just gets saved for round two the next day.

One thing we’ve always done is teach the kids to eat the healthy food first. If they’re still hungry, then they can have the extras. If not, no big deal. They’ve always respected that, and it works really well for us.

I got up at 7:00 this morning, and it took me about 30 minutes to make these lunches. I genuinely love this time. It wakes me up, grounds me, and honestly feels a bit like therapy. Cooking is my love language, and making my kids a healthy, fresh lunch is one of the ways I show them that love.

Some mornings I use leftovers, some mornings I make things fresh — it all depends on what we had the night before and how much time I have. I’ve learned to judge the flow of the morning and work with it, not against it.
