This overture illustrates the reboot and joy of playing music together again after the covid-lockdown so Open Up! seemed an appropriate name for the message.
The optimistic composition is straightforward, energetic and suitable for many levels.
The minimalistic intrada creates the possibility to start the piece with an empty stage. After the woodblock enters the stage increasingly more musicians join the stage: a metaphor of rejoining again. Due to the variety in the percussion ensemble sector, i made three versions of the same piece: version one has 10 parts, version two 13 parts and the third version 16 parts.
