Experimenting With My Pencils Before Drawing

Описание: After some time away from drawing, I finally picked up a new set of pencils and decided to experiment.

This video is about reconnecting with the fundamentals and testing new tools, feeling the texture of graphite on paper, and rediscovering the subtle control that only drawing can give you. I haven’t drawn in a while, so there’s something raw and honest about this process. It’s not about perfection. It’s about returning.

As an artist, experimenting with new pencils matters more than people think. Different grades, different softness, and different pressure responses all change the way you see form, shadow, and anatomy. Tools influence touch. Touch influences line. Line influences emotion.

I’m especially excited to get back into portraiture and into drawing shibari again. The human figure, tension, rope, compression, release… drawing forces you to truly understand structure and light before you ever apply paint.

For me, this isn’t just about sketching. It’s about sharpening my eye so my paintings become stronger. Better anatomy. Better gradients. More intentional contrast. Drawing is the foundation, and I’m rebuilding that foundation so the paintings evolve to the next level.

This is the beginning of getting back to it.
