This Bible song is about Saul, before he became the king of Israel. His father sent him to find his donkeys. Saul did not find them, God instead had other plans for him. He did find the prophet Samuel, who would eventually annoint Saul as the 1st king of Israel.

Promising that through his rule He will deliver them.
If he follows God’s command Saul will reign in peace
But he must fight his jealous heart or his rule will cease.
